NT scan

The nuchal translucency test (also called the NT scan) uses ultrasound to assess your developing baby’s risk of having Down syndrome (DS) and some other chromosomal abnormalities, as well as major congenital heart problems. It’s offered to all pregnant women, along with a blood test between 11 -13weeks and 6days.

The NT scan measures the clear (translucent) space in the tissue at the back of your baby’s neck. (Nuchal translucency) Babies with abnormalities tend to accumulate more fluid at the back of their neck during the first trimester, causing this clear space to be larger than average.

Detailed Scan

The 20-week screening scan looks in detail at the baby’s bones, heart, brain, spinal cord, face, kidneys and abdomen.

Well Baby Assessment Scan

This is done between 26 and 34 weeks to assess your baby’s size, growth or position, the amount of amniotic fluid around your baby, the location of your placenta and the length of your cervix.

3D and 4D scan

3D imaging allows for the visualization of fetus as static 3D images. Comparatively, 4D ultrasounds allow for a live-streaming video of the images, showing the motion of the fetus. The best time to have a 3D or 4D scan is between 27 weeks and 32 weeks pregnancy.
